Overview

The UCLA Pediatric Bone Histomorphometry Core Laboratory is a full-service, state-of-the-art, CLIA certified laboratory that processes and analyzes bone tissue.  

We provide bone histology services as well as histomorphometry of human iliac crest and rodent tibia, femur, mandibles and vertebrae. In addition, we perform analyses of bone iron and aluminum staining as well as immunohistochemical analysis of specific skeletal proteins

We are located in the Department of Pediatrics at UCLA and are equipped for analyzing samples of human and animal bone for histology, histomorphometry, and immunohistochemistry. 

Dr. Renata Pereira, Director of the bone core laboratory, is a board certified histologist and has over 20 years in processing and analyzing human and bone tissue. The laboratory staff includes histotechnologists, pediatric nephrologists and researchers with expertise and training in histology and histomorphometric analysis in bone specimens.
